Imphal, July 20 2013 :
A meeting of the State Cabinet convened today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat seriously deliberated on the issue of State Pre-Medical Test (PMT) for selection of government nominees for admission to MBBS/BDS courses, but it failed to arrive at any decisive resolution on whether to hold the entrance test or not in the aftermath of Supreme Court's verdict quashing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) .
However, a reliable source said the State Cabinet would take a decision within this month as the academic session for MBBS/BDS courses would commence from August next.
The Cabinet also approved age relaxation for five years for the candidates of the Combined Manipur Civil Services Examination to be conducted under the supervision of Manipur Public Service Commission this year.
This would be the last time and there would not be such age relaxation in future examinations.
It may be noted that the State Cabinet had earlier approved recruitment of 91 posts for civil services including 22 posts for MCS, 25 posts for MPS, 28 posts for MFS, 2 posts for Election Officer and 15 posts for SDC.
Today's Cabinet Meeting further resolved that licenses for arms and vehicles would be issued to people only by the authorities of their respective domiciled districts.
Cross issue of licenses would not be allowed henceforth.
The Cabinet also resolved to strictly monitor issue of licenses to non-local people.
Further, recruitment of 494 primary teachers and 130 Hindi matriculate teachers was also approved by the Cabinet.
The State Cabinet resolved that food grains for Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Thoubal under the National Food Security Ordinance, 2013 would be transported through the Deputy Commissioners concerned and not by transport contractors.
The benefits of Food Security would also be extended to other hill districts in due course of time along with introduction of Doorstep Delivery Service, the source noted.
The Cabinet also approved formulation of Manipur Finance Service Rules and service extension of VDF personnel.
