Two day Emoinu Festival begins at Cachar

Minister L Jayanta Kumar has inaugurated the 2-days Emoinu Festival 2019 organized by Emoinu Evergreen Society, Barak Valley at Sribar Konthou Leikai under Lakhipur Subdivision, Cachar in Assam at 11.30 am today.
The inaugural function was attended by L Jayanta Kumar Singh, minister of Art & Culture, Health & Family Welfare, Law and Legislative, Manipur as chief guest, L Babasan Singha, president Emoinu Evergreen Society as functional president and A Shiv Das Sharma, Director, Art and Culture, Govt of Manipur as guest of honour while K Sarat Kumar Singh, vice-chairman, Manipur Food Industries Corporation Ltd; Guneshor Sharma, Director, AYUSH Manipur, M Mubi Singh, SP Jiribam district also attended the function as special guests.
The function began with an opening song sang by singer P Pramesori of Cachar while M Subash Singha, general secy, Emoinu Evergreen Society, Barak Valley delivered the welcome address.

Speaking at the occasion, chief guest L Jayanta Kumar Singh wished for the mega festival to become even more bigger festival known by all and assured of extending help from next year to make the festival far-reaching.
He continued that Ema Emoinu festival is a very important rituals of Manipur which is observed to maintain its rich culture, tradition and social behavior and added that people from other States and Countries have high regards for Manipur due to its rich tradition and culture.
He further urged the gathering to take advantage of the health scheme of State Govt at 50 Bedded Hospital, Jiribam and availed 53 different tests free of cost.
As part of the function, he donated a sum of Rs 1,50,000 to Emoinu Evergreen Society, Barak Valley.
L Babasan Singha, president Emoinu Evergreen Society appreciated the words of minister L Jayanta Kumar Singh for promising to extend help so that the festival can be organized in a big way from next year and thanked the minister for attending the cultural festival.
He also opined that the festival was organised to promote the tradition and culture of Manipur and also to make emergence of a Manipuri market in the region with an aim to generate employment amongst the Manipuri youths.
K Sarat Kumar Singh, vice-chairman, Manipur Food Industries Corporation Ltd, Manipur hoped that such festival will bring closer between Manipuri of Assam and Manipur.
He also donated Rs 50,000 to Emoinu Evergreen Society, Barak Valley during the function.
A Shiv Das Sharma, Director, Art and Culture, GoM said that it is a proud moment to host Emoinu Festival 2019 in Assam organized by Emoinu Evergreen Society, Barak Valley and added that such steps will promote the idea of oneness among Manipuri residing in different parts of States.
The two day long event consists of cultural show, live musical concert etc.
Many eminent artists, film personalities and singers from Manipur have also arrived to attend the event.
Meanwhile, Minister L Jayanta Kumar, MLA of National People�s Party (NPP), while talking with the media persons also stated that he, as a member of NPP opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.Speaking about the CAB, he said that it (Bill) will curtail the political rights of the indigenous people of the North East India.
"We (NPP) had a meeting with our leader Cornard Sangma, who is CM of Meghalaya and resolved to oppose the bill", he maintained.
