Imphal, October 13 2014:
Urging the Chief Minister to take immediate stringent measure against six doctors who are posted at Tamei and Tousem PHCs but failed to join duty there, the Naga People's Front (NPF) Manipur State Unit has warned of taking the matter to the higher level unless the grievances of the people are attended to at the earliest.
In a representation to the CM, the Manipur unit secretary of NPF, Honreikhui Kashung sought action against the doctors who defied the Govt order and to regulate a policy to ascertain that Govt servants/employees respect the law.
Besides urging the CM to immediately send doctors to Tamei and Tousem PHCs to redress the grievances of the people, the NPF also demanded that sufficient doctors be posted at Tamenglong District Hospital.
Citing its finding during the party members' tour of the area during Oct 6-8 last, the NPF also cited in the memo that the Tamei PHC was found locked due to absence of doctors.
It said that a woman passed away on the way to Imphal on Oct 2 as there was no doctor to attend her.
There were many incidents narrated to the NPF team by the locals.
Categorically asking whether the six doctors posted to Tamei and Tousem PHCs are still in service or whether they have been terminated or suspended, the NPF urged the CM to take action against them immediately.
