The statement informed that there were "praises galore for exceptional gallantry exhibited by the fighters" while mourning the death of Unit Commander, "maj" Rajanglung of Naga Army and "cpl" Amit alias Keisham Rajen (27) of KYKL during and after the ambush.
Late Raza was hit by an "enemy mortar shell" in the incident and Amit breathed his last on the way to a safer place from the battle, "probably, due to heart failure," the statement added.
The statement further said that the KYKL authorities were not aware of any sign of such latent ailment and he had not lodged any health complaint.
"The report that his dead body bore bullet marks is totally baseless.
If it happens to be a report given out by Indian forces, it is nothing but a shameless lie," claimed the statement.
It added that Raza was not only "valiant and tactical in battles" but also prudent and judicious politically and that his acumen for "combat plan" could ensure easy success and his tactical guidelines for retreat could save the rest of his team even after his demise.
"His death is an irreparable loss to the NSCN/GPRN organization and Naga national movement.
"cpl" Amit was friendly to all and "jolly to a fault" .
"His commitment to the revolutionary struggle and cheerfulness in times of hardships could elevate the sagging morale of everybody.
The vacuum caused by his death cannot be filled up easily," the joint statement said.
The combined team's action was "a landmark step towards" Naga-Meitei unified struggle for WESEA against "Indian colonialism and this particular event further forges the camaraderie spirit between the two struggling communities", the outfits asserted.
The "Elite Unit" offered condolence and salute its departed comrades and the gathering observed two minutes' silence in honour of the cadres, said the statement.
