Ukhrul, October 04 2020:
The villagers of Tushar village have urged to include the inter-villages road from Lambui to Lamlang gate via Tushar and T Chanhong in the State Government project work.
Speaking to a team of mediapersons, the Headman of Tushar village AS Shinmi expressed that the road from Lambui to Lamlang gate via Tushar and T Chanhong village was constructed in 1986 under PWD project, at stretch of 13.5 kms.
Since then, there has been no maintenance or repair work from the Government side, however the villagers through MGNREGS and voluntary contributions have maintained the inter-villages road over the years.
However, the road shingled with stone boulders is very hard to travel during rainy season.
Shinmi further informed three days social work was organised by Tushar village for contribution of money from every family.
Over 732 families are residing in both Tushar and T Chanhong villages, he added.
The headman also expressed disappointment with the Works Minister Th Biswajit.
The Minister had assured the villagers to construct the road, during the Tangkhul students conference held in the village in 2017 but nothing has been done till now.
Meanwhile, a senior person Vareishang expressed that although the village is close to Ukhrul Highway (about 9 kms away) it takes more than 45 minutes to reach the main road due to the pathetic condition.
The villagers frequently face immense hardship during transportation of essential commodities to the village.
Vareishang also appealed, that in the wider interest of the villagers, to include Lambui to Lamlang road via Tushar and T Chanhong in the State project work.
