Liquor worth Rs 10 lakh seized

Imphal, April 15 2017:
Imphal West district police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth around Rs 10 lakh along with the arrest of seven alcohol sellers in drives conducted in different locations today.
A total of 34 people who were found consuming alcohol were also arrested in the drives which were carried out by a team of the district police led by Additional SP (Operation) S Ibomcha and Additional SP (Law and Order) Priyadarshini Laishram under the supervision of SP Imphal West N Herojit.
The first drive was conducted at a hotel located on the western side of Pologround from where four owners of liquor shops and 29 people who were found consuming alcohol were arrested.
The police team continued the drive at Chandu liquor shop located at MG Avenue and picked up five persons including salesman of the shop.
Another team of the district police carried out similar drive at Lamphel Sanakeithel in which a huge quantity of liquor was seized .
On receipt of specific information, a team of the district polcie headed by DSP Irom Rojit launched a drive at the residence of one Salam Santosh at Thangmeiband Khomdram Salungba Leikai and seized a huge quantity of IMFL worth around Rs 6 lakh.
Singjamei police also carried out similar drive at Chingamakha in which a huge quantity of liquor from a shop run by Ningthoujam Basanta.
All the seized liquors were brought to City police station and displayed before media persons.
