Physics question paper leakage : All six accused further remanded to police custody

All the six persons who are accused in the Physics question paper leakage case have been remanded further to police custody for three days till April 17 after they were produced before the Court of JMIC Imphal West today.
The six accused are Md Abdur Rahaman (39) (principal/OC of Galaxy Institute of Science) s/o Md Nizamuddin of Lilong Atoukhong; Nongmaithem Mohen (47) (vice-principal/AOC Galaxy Institute of Science) s/o Goura Singh of Kakching Mayai Leikai; Gurumayum Premchand Sharma (50) s/o (L) Kanhai of Mayang Imphal Thana Leirak presently staying at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai; Nameirakpam Romesh Singh (32) (SI Galaxy Institute of Science) s/o Yaima of Tentha Mayai Leikai; Yumkhaibam Wakeep (21) (peon/caretaker cum chowkidar of Galaxy Institute of Science) s/o Apik of Lilong Leihaokhong and Sultan Ahemed (22) (typist cum office assistant of Galaxy Institute of Science) s/o Nizamuddin of Lilong Atoukhong.
The accused have been in police custody since April 10 after they were arrested by police in connect- ion with the case.
Investigation Officer of the case filed under FIR number 122 (4) 2017 Im-phal police station prayed before the Court for granting police custody for three more days for the six accused under Section 420/380/34 of IPC and Section 72 of Information Technology Act.
Accepting the prayer, the Court perused the case record and diary.
In his submission, the Investigation Officer stated that on April 7, a Sub-Inspector of Cyber Crime Unit Imphal West filed a written complaint mentioning that Secretary of Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) on April 5 reported to SP Imphal West that some unknown persons circulated image of a question paper of Physics subject through mobile WhatsApp.
The examination for Physics subject was scheduled to be held at 10 am of April 5 .
He submitted that the COHSEM Secretary requested the SP to look into the matter and take necessary action to book the culprits responsible for committing the serious crime.
During the course of investigation, it came to light that the image was found uploaded in a WhatsApp group called "Matamgi News Update 24X7 leading to the arrest of five persons including two juveniles.
The three accused were produced before the concerned Duty Magistrate on April 7 and released on bail.
One of the juveniles disclosed that he had received the image of the Physics question paper from a WhatsApp group "Farewell" leading to the arrest of seven more juveniles.
On receipt of specific information, one of the accused Yumkhaibam Wakeep was arrested on April 8 as a follow up action.
During interrogation, he admitted that he works as the peon/caretaker/chowkidar of Galaxy Institute of Science, Lilong Uku and had transmitted the issued question paper to a WhatsApp group "Galaxy Exam Centre" .
He also disclosed that he had committed the crime along with five persons who were arrested on April 9 and produced before the Court and since then they have been in police custody remand.
During interrogation, Sultan Ahmed disclosed that he is the younger brother of Md Abdur Rahaman, principal of Galaxy Institute of Science and he is serving as the typist of the institute.
He revealed that on April 5 at around 9.10 am, he steadily went inside the room of the vice-principal where he found the question paper of Physics and captured all the images of the question paper and immediately sent it to Yumkhaibam Wakeep through WhatsApp.
