A quarrel erupted among workers of a Congress candidate who lost the election in the Wangoi Nagar Panchayat election.
Timely intervention by the police prevented casualties or damage of properties.
The quarrel surfaced when Congress candidate Soibam Tejmani of Ward No 9 of Wangoi Nagar Panchayat lost the election by five votes at the hands of independent candidate Yumnam Boy alias Sanatomba.
When some workers alleged their candidate lost the election due to a poor turn out in the home polling, a heated argument erupted among the workers.
They started stoning and dismantling polling camps.
Wangoi police who arrived at the spot calmed the workers putting the situation under control, the report said.
On other hand, some solar street lamps in Thoubal Haokha were damaged by workers of a candidate who lost the election.
Another quarrel among workers of candidate who lost elections at Lilong Chajing Nagar Panchayat election was reported last night.
