Govt is marching towards new Manipur: Biren

Chief Minister N Biren launched the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana � Gramin (PMAY-G) in the presence of Union Minister for Rural Development, Drinking Water & Sanitation Narendra Tomar Singh today at the City Convention Hall here .
The inaugural programme was also attended by MP Dr Th Meinya, Minister for PHE Losii Dikho, Parliamentary Secretary (RD &PR) H Dingo, Joint Secretary (RD&PR), Government of India Prashant Kumar and Secretary (RD&PR) Sumant Singh .
In his speech, Union Minister Narendra Tomar congratulated the N Biren-led Government on successfully completing 100-days of governance.
Highlighting the various schemes of the Government, he further said, one crore houses would be provided or constructed for the homeless people in the country and every people would have a house by 2022 in the country .
Speaking as chief guest, Chief Minister N Biren said that achievements made within 100 days of the new Government are just a beginning of a new Manipur .
"We should stop playing political blame games rather we should focus on delivering visible practical changes to the people", he added .
Highlighting that the Government is committed to provide Housing for All by 2022, he directed the concerned DCs to identify and select the beneficiaries properly so that the scheme could reach the genuine and needy people of the State.
Altogether 9740 pucca houses would be constructed in the State under the PMAY-G, he added .
The Chief Minister mentioned that till now only 40 percent of the population have access to drinking water facility in the State.
The BJP-led Government is working its best to provide drinking water to all soon, he added .
Assuring that the Government would work towards the development of the State, the Chief Minister stated that some areas have been identified such as roads, communication, health, education, drinking water and self employment which would be taken up on priority basis soon.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Commerce and Industry Th Biswajit said having a house is a primary need of a person and the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana�Gramin (PMAY-G), which is a flagship programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a scheme which aims to fulfil the dream of a homeless person to own his/her own house .
The major hurdle in implementing the scheme, however, lies in selection of beneficiaries, Minister Biswajit said adding that identification of beneficiaries is to be made according to the Socio Economic Census, 2011 .
During the function, a handbook on Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana � Graminn(PMAY-G) was released.
The dignitaries also distributed the house allotment orders to some of the beneficiaries under PMAY-G scheme.
