NSCN-IM rules in almost all the polling stations in Chandel A/C

Armed cadres of NSCN-IM indulged in booth capturing and vandalizing in almost all the polling stations in Chandel A/C and made the voters cast their votes in favour of NPF candidate Nunghlung Victor, charged A Bunson, Election Agent of SS Olish who is an independent candidate from Chandel A/C.Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Bunson said that independent candidate WS Kanral was forced to withdraw his candidature with the view to make Nunghlung come out successful in the election by the NSCN-IM.
They even threatened SS Olish to withdraw her candidature as well.
The NSCN-IM cadres even went to the extent of capturing five persons including two women on January 27 along with a Bolero Storm (MN04A 5616) from Chakpikarong area and detained them at their camp.
The five arrested persons escaped from their custody and reached Chandel yesterday evening.
He further charged that a cadre of NSCN-IM LK Vinising hit SK Sangpen w/o Kh Konising, on the head with an iron bar.
She is in a critical condition at present.
A cadre of NSCN-IM also came inside polling station number 41/15 and made them vote for NPF candidate Nunghlung Victor.
The candidate also stayed inside the polling station and kept watch of the whole process.
Bunson also said that the incident which occurred at a polling booth of 41/40 Chakpikarong in 41Chandel A/C where at least 7 persons including three polling personnel one CRPF personnel, two voters including one woman and one suspected cadre of NSCN-IM were killed in a shoot out ensued between suspected cadres of NSCN-IM and poll security personnel should also be carefully looked into.
The CRPF personnel who fired indiscriminately in the crowd should also be punished.
The Election Commission has also not taken up any steps so far even though complaints have been made.
Those against the NPF and those who have escaped from the NSCN-IM are not able to return to their villages and are still facing a lot of problems, he lamented.
