Trinamool Congress candidate clarifies, fires salvos

The Trinamool Congress candidate who reportedly walked away with a mobile phone use for photographing electorates at a polling station in New Lamka today clarified the circumstances that led to the unwanted incident even as he fired salvos of accusation against the INC workers.
'It was not me but a worker of mine who had taken away the mobile phone,' P Songlianlal, the Trinamool Congress candidate in CCpur AC told the press today.
Explaining the circumstances leading to the incident, Songlianlal clarified that his worker had resorted to confiscating the mobile phone as the operator was not an authorised official.
He identified the individual operating camera as one Sanglun, son of Pumkhenthang a resident of Central Road, Hiangtam Lamka.
The polling officer as well as the concern individual, whom he said was personally known to him failed to give reasonable response on why someone who was not appointed by the DEO was operating the mobile phone and this resulted into the unwanted incident, he said.
The TC candidate who had attracted an FIR for the incident also leveled numerous allegations against several individuals whom he identified them as members of the district council to school teachers.
All the INC MDCs are working as volunteer commander of Phungzathang, the INC candidate he said and wonder, 'if they were public servants or servants of Phungzathang'.
He also confessed of submitting a written complaint against five government employees who he said were entering the polling booths at different locations in trying to influence votes with a congress badge.
Besides charging the INC workers of kidnapping some of his workers, the candidate claimed that the congress party had even influenced many of the polling officials and the state security personnel to act in their favour.
A VVF officer in Geljang had even wielded his service gun against one Seiboi in Geljang village and a complaint has been made in this regard as well, he said.
Confident of getting elected despite the hiccups, Songlianlal said, the people of Churachandpur would have for once an MLA for all community and an MLA for the people.
Suspecting that the INC will manage a sizable amount of proxy votes, he had requested to cross-check the electoral roll to that of the people casting the votes in 11 polling stations including three in Hiangtam Lamka, six in New Lamka, two in Bijang Loubuk and one in Mata.
'If the proxy votes in these polling stations are genuinely deleted I will made a confortable win otherwise it will be with a very narrow margin,' he said.
