Teachers threaten stir

The Joint Teachers' Forum (JTF) has threatened to launch different modes of agitation if the notification issued by the State Government on July 11 last year regarding Revision of Pay (ROP) which scaled down salaries of Primary school teachers, Graduate teachers and lecturers is not reviewed by January 31 .
Speaking to media persons at MDU, Yaiskul today, JTF officer bearers said that the State Finance Department issued an ROP notification on July 11 last year which said that the salaries of Primary teachers, Graduate teachers and Higher Secondary lecturers would be given in the range recommended by the 5th Pay Commission.
As the matter was raised with the Education Minister and the Education Director, they assured the aggrieved teachers that the ROP notification would be rectified definitely.
However, the assurance has not been translated into action till date.
Earlier, JTF members and teachers took out a protest rally and marched to the Education office against the same notification.
If the ROP notification is not rectified by January 31, different modes of agitation would be launched from February 1, said the JTF office bearers.
