Imphal, January 27 2020:
The Manipur Electricity Employees Union (MEEU) has threatened to launch an indefinite cease work strike from January 30, if its demands are not met by the State Government at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at MEEU office conference hall today, its president Laisom Ibomcha said that around 54 employees, under Social Security Scheme, had retired around 3/4 years back.
However, they are all yet to get any of their rightful pension till date.
They all retired on January 1, 2017 but not even the retirement order has been issued, let alone provide pension, he alleged.
Urging the Managing Directors concerned to consider how the retired employees are supposed to run their families without any money, the union president further demanded the authorities concerned to ensure that the employees, who were appointed recently to MSPCL/MSPDCL, are provided necessary EIN/SIN Number so that they can get the benefits of the 7th Pay revision of ROP 2019.He further demanded the employees of the two companies to be given a monthly honorarium instead of giving Grant-In-Aid for a period of every three months and explained that the employees are working nonstop under the Essential Service Maintenance Act.
If they are workers in essential services, their salaries should also be given every month.
However, it is unfortunate that the Government and the authorities concerned have failed to take this mater into consideration till date.
Ibomcha further demanded immediate ACP/MACP for the employees who are currently working under the Social Security Scheme and to ensure that the employees are provided with EPF/CPF accounts as well.
If the aforementioned demands are not met, then the union will be forced to launch an indefinite ceasework strike from January 30, he warned.
