Manipur State Invitation Boxing Championship kick starts

Imphal, January 27 2020:
The first Manipur State Invitation Boxing Championship 2020 for men and women being organised under the supervision of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA), began today at Khuman Lampak, boxing arena.
The championship is being participated by 270 pugilists which are clubbed into 6 different groups.
The opening day witnessed Laishram Dilipkumar beating Waikhom Ishwarchand and Lebon Bilankom defeating Khomdram Bikash in sub-junior boys (49kg) category.
In junior boys (48 kg) event, Irungbam Malemnganba Singh beat H Herojit, H Nilakant defeated Ningthoujam Chinglensana and Pusam Yasin overwhelmed M Christain Singh while Heikrujam Bimjit outperformed Laishram Julen Singh in youth and elite men's (52 kg) event.
Meanwhile, in 56 kg men's event, Moirangthem Thoibi Meitei beat Heikrujam Bijou Singh and Khundongbam Kishan Meitei outperformed Heikrujam Robinson Singh.
Khaidem Malemnganba Singh, Kh Nongdamkhomba; Kamtinthang Kipgen, M Robinson Singh emerged winners in 60 kg category while Saikhom Rivaldo Singh defeated Khenwang Nocbi in 64 kg event.
In sub-junior girl's event (40 kg), Laishom Phoniya Devi outplayed Shildya Laishram, Dikila Lepcha beat Esther Neipineng while Elangbam Thoicha Devi, Esther L Baite , Taorem Rina Devi, defeated their respective opponents in sub-junior girl's (43kg) event.
The winners of sub-junior girl's (49kg) bouts, who made it to the next round are Nongkham Dolly Devi, Telen Chongneilhing Kom , S Anjali Devi and Mayengbam Sagar Chanu.
The inaugural ceremony of the championship, which will continue till February 3, was graced by Health Minister, L Jayantakumar Singh as a chief guest; MABA president, Ng Tejkumar Singh as functional president and Zilla Parishad, 6 Potsangbam as guest of honour.
