Assam Rifles celebrates 71st Republic Day

Imphal, January 27 2020:
Units of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated 71st Republic Day yesterday, with much fanfare in the entire State, witnessing massive attendance of locals.
Sajik Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles, organised the 71th Republic Day celebrations at Sajik Tampak.
Flag hoisting and distribution of sweets were conducted at all neighbouring locations of Chandel district, which were attended by a large number of locals.
Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and children from nearby villages took part in the Republic Day celebrations at Sajik Tampak Battalion.

The programme started by wreath laying and flag hoisting within the unit area followed by planting of saplings, which was done together with ex-servicemen and Assam Rifles personnel.
Special live screening of Republic Day parade was organised in the auditorium for the children.
Ex-servicemen were also felicitated in the event.
The Republic Day celebrations at Sajik Tampak culminated after sweet distribution and feast with the ex-servicemen and the children.
Subsequently, Thingat Battalion of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles conducted a free medical camp on the occasion of Republic Day at Khuga, Churchandpur district yesterday.
A medical camp was conducted for the locals at Phaibem village wherein over 200 people attended the camp including dignitaries of the local areas.
The camp also included a part on awareness about Yoga and medical schemes which are being provided by the Government.
Distribution of essential items was also organised for the BPL families to give them a chance to celebrate the day.
The celebration was observed at all Company Operating Base of Joupi Battalion.
A number of friendly matches were played between the teams of Joupi Battalion and local youths at various locations across the area of responsibilities.
The series of activities undertaken by the Units of HQ IGAR (south) received overwhelming response from the local populace.
All the attendees conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for facilitating the outreach of the National Programme and for successful celebrations of the 71st Republic Day.
