The celebration held at the MU Centenary Hall was jointly organised by MU and Pangal Political Forum.
Delivering the key-note address, Forum spokesperson MI Khan said the JNU foundation anniversary celebration is an opportunity for the people to pay obeisance to Md Alimuddin, whose initiative to set up JNU consequently led to the establishment of Manipur University, which was recently upgraded to a central university.
While conveying gratitude to MU authorities for their approval to celebrate the event at the varsity facility, he also opined that MU declaring atleast a half holiday to mark the event would serve as a fitting tribute to the initiative of the State's first Chief Minister.
