Seeds, fertilizer distributed in Senapati

District Agriculture Office, Senapati today distributed rabi crops and fertilizers to farmers under RKVY and Rainfed Agriculture Development Programme (RADP) .
Apart from making available of water pump sets and knapsack sprayers, seeds of Rachana field and Arkeel varieties of pea, winter hybrid maize, rape seed M-27 (mustard), seed treatment drum and fertilizers were distributed to 60 farmers of E-Mulam, T Thangkal, H Champhai, Gangpijang, Purum Likli, Sadu, Makokching, Songfel, Tusam, Thangkalfai, Maulkon and Denglen villages in today's programme.
Speaking at the occasion, Senapati DC PK Jha said that the programme was organised with an aim to enhance production by providing modern technology and high yielding variety of seeds to farmers.
Stressing on the need to switch over to active and modern forms of farming, PK Jha said that farmers could multiply earning if they continue production during off season as well.
He also urged the farmers to increase earning by adopting scientific means of farming instead of looking for MGNREGS schemes alone.
Saying that more than 100 farmers have already been benefited by organising a similar programme at Senapati district headquarters, PK Jha also called on the farmers not to hesitate to contact the State Agriculture Department regarding assistance.
SAMETI Director M Gojendro, AMTA Senapati Project Director Y Ranjit, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (Saikul) Th Joykumar and Kangpokpi SDAO N Ratan were also present at the occasion.
As part of the programme, a field demonstration session on scientific technology was also conducted.
