Dr Lorho opens 'Sports & Literary Meet' of St Xavier College

Senapati, October 14 2019: MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze opened the 'Sports & Literary Meet, 2019' of St Xavier College and Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Maram Khunou, Senapati under the theme "Exploring Talents" as chief guest today.

The inaugural propgramme was held in the presence of Brig Ravroop Singh, SM, Commander, 59th Mountain Brigade, Senapati as the guest of honour and student leaders and social leaders from the district.

Fr William Nepuni was accorded warm welcome with traditional attires by the students of the college and school.

He said that the Don Bosco High School was established in the year 1977 at the present site and currently, the institution has 842 students in the lower section, 1284 students in the High School section, 887 students in Arts, Science and Commerce stream of the Higher Secondary and 135 students in BA Arts stream.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Lorho S Pfoze, MP Lok Sabha said that the aspiration of the people of the district was fulfilled with the opening of the St Xavier College which has provided a roof and a opportunity for higher quality education even for the locals as many do not have the opportunity to go outside for higher education due to numbers of constraints.

The MP also lauded the institution for providing quality education and exuded confidence that the institution will go a long way in shaping the career of the students not only in academic spheres but also in making them a matured and responsible citizens of the country.

Dr Lorho also urged the students to be humble in life and take active part in social activities and sports for the all round development.

The Sports and Literary week of the year is stated to continue throughout the week with competition from 4 different houses consisting of the Juventus, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Different games including cultural dance competitions, relay race, football, volleyball, debate, extempore speech, athletics, etc will take place during the meet.
