Targeted intervention programme on mental health held

Targeted Intervention Programme on Mental Health organized by National Health Mission Manipur (NHMM) in association with National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) was held at the Auditorium of IRE College of Teacher's Education, Wangjing in Thoubal District today.
The programme was attended by Councillor Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council, ward no 4, Thokchom Amitab Singh; Principal IRE College of Teacher's Education Wangjing, N Rajivkumar Singh and Secy Wangjing Women and Girls Society (WWAGS), L Premananda Singh as presidium members.
The function began with the welcome address and keynote speech by social worker and Psychiatrist, District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Thoubal, M Sushilkumar Singh.
He said that the programme was held to make aware the public about the mental health problem in the society and the public should not take it lightly as it will get worsen with the passage of time if proper treatment is not taken in time.
As part of the programme, Psychiatrist Dr H Jina Devi of District Hospital Thoubal spoke on the topic "Overview of Mental Disorder and Mental Health Promotion" while Nodal Officer, Mental Health Programme, Chandel District Hospital Dr Kh Robindro Singh spoke on "Suicide Prevention and Substance use Disorders" and Psychiatrist social worker M Chandrakumar Singh on "Life Skill Education" .
