CCpur, October 14 2019:
Riding on six goals from strike prodigy Ch Bimola Chanu, hot contenders Lamka Sports Club (LSC) continued their unbeaten run and advanced to the quarter finals as they overwhelmed Sunshine Academy 8-2 in tonights thrilling first match of the ongoing FootGal 2019
organised by the District Administration, Churachandpur at Rayburn High School campus.
LSC started on an aggressive note and Lalvarmawi struck a fantastic goal to put LSC ahead in the 7th minute.
LSC rode on the momentum and the match saw their aggressive
play pay dividends as Ch Bimola Chanu struck six goals in succession while Lalvarmawi completed a brace to seal the match in style.
Sunshine Academy tried their best to at least reduce the margin.
But their rivals defence held their ground and prevented them from making inroads.
However, Sunshine Academy managed to claw two goals back through Kim Gracy and Ngaihoihkim.
In the second match of the day, SVEEP 18 + forfeited the match to PLL FA.
Significantly, both teams face elimination and the win or lose today proved inconsequential.
Meanwhile, Rayburn FC and Angels Place FC shared the spoils in tonights third match.
The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw and the two teams remained tied on the point table too.
However, by virtue of better goal difference, Rayburn FC emerged
the champions of Pool B and were given the QFs berth.
The goal for Rayburn FC was scored by Hngakte while Sonia struck the goal for Angels Place FC.
Victor Rest Farm FC too stormed into the quarter finals from Pool C as they trounced Lalpuithluai Foundation School FC by a comprehensive margin of 13 goals to nil in tonights onesided fourth match.
It was raining goals for Victor Rest Farm FC as Wangneikim Kom hammered in six goals while Chinghoihkim and Ningthoujam Borkeina hit a hat trick each and Nengthennei contributed one
in VRF FCs convincing win.
In the 23rd match of the tournament, Venus Club salvaged a 1-1 draw with LVL FC as Stephanic scored the equaliser for the former team in the 7th minute after LVL FC's Khumi opened up the scoring in the opening minute of the game.
