NE's first ever language laboratory inaugurated

A first ever Language Laboratory in the entire North East region was inaugurated today at Khuman Maheikol, Mayang Imphal.
Dr Ratankumar (Education Minister), Dr Chingangbam Sarat (Secretary, BOSEM), Dr L Mahavir (Joint Director, Education Dept, Language, Planning and Implementation), S Mangi (Ex-Deputy Secretary, BOSEM) and Ph Landhoni (president, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association) presided over the inaugural function as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
Ajit Yumnam, founder of Khuman Maheikol, said," The Language Lab has been opened with the aim of enabling the students of the State learn, read and write English effectively".
The lab has been equipped with computer sets and students will be taught by using audio-visual teaching methods, he said.
He pointed out that the computer sets have been equipped with a special software which was developed by a private firm called Crimson based on the text books they earlier sent to the firm.
Students from 8 to 10th standards can avail the benefit of the language lab, he added.
"The whole working model of the lab revolves around text books and no extra fees have been charged", he assured.
Education Minister Dr Ratankumar said,"This lab is a venture to be proud of and it will be of great benefits to the students" .
These kinds of initiative should also be taken up in Government schools although such expensive venture requires minute inspection and planning, he said.
