Agriculture workshop begins

A two day workshop on 'Protected Cultivation Technologies for Manipur' organised by Precision Farming Development Centre of Central Agricultural University under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture's National Committee on Plasticulture Applications has been inaugurated by Chief Secretary DS Poonia at the CAU conference hall today.
In his address as the chief guest, Poonia called upon the agricultural scientists to continuously strive for development of farmer-friendly methods suitable to local conditions.
Highlighting need for sustaining food-grain productivity commensurate with ever burgeoning population, he also stressed on awareness programmes and training for farmers.
The Chief Secretary also inaugurated an exhibition of food crops/vegetables.
during the technical session, Senior Scientific Office, NCPAH (New Delhi) Ashok Gahrotra deliberated on 'An overview of plasticulture applications in horticultural development' and Prof W Ingo of the workshop host on 'Production Technology for Cultivation of Important High Value vegetables' .
