Imphal, August 05 2013:
Students of three DM Colleges have boycotted Education Minister M Okendra.
In a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, Joint Committee of DM College Students Union Convenor Elangbam Sovamani said, the students of all the three DM Colleges would not take part in the 67th Foundation Day of the college if the Minister attends the function.
Taking a dig at the Minister, the Convenor said that M Okendra has failed to translate his tall claims and promises into action.
Education Minister's promises of upgrading the college to the status of a deemed University, eviction of a hall constructed inside the college campus within three months and appointment of regular Principals of Government colleges do not witness any visible positive change so far, he added.
Saying that most of the Government colleges do not have internet, electricity and water supply connections, the Convenor asserted that many of the Government colleges do not even have toilets and libraries.
Apart from Minister's resignation, the Convenor also demanded that Higher Education Commissioner P Vaiphei and Additional Director RK Yaiskul be sacked from their respective posts.
Maintaining that Education Department would be boycotted of their demands are not fulfilled, the Convenor urged the Chief Minister to take the matter seriously.
