International Women's Day celebrated at Senapati District Hospital

Lungnila Elizabeth School of Social Work (LESSW) in collaboration with Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) celebrated International Women's Day today at Senapati District Hospital under the theme: "Time is now: rural and urban activists transforming women's lives".
The programme was attended by Dr Ch Shantibala Devi, former District and Session Judge, Naga Women Union Manipur president and secretary, SDWA president and secretary, women police Senapati, oath Commissioners, incharge RKS nurses, LESSW teachings faculties and students.
Stri Shuraksha App was also introduced by Dr Shirly Irom and launched by Dr Ch Shantibala Devi at the event.
SDWA president highlighted a brief history on the observation of the International Women's Day.
Reflecting on the progress achieved, she called for a change and celebrate the acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played extraordinary roles in the history of the country and communities.
Women police incharge SI, Sarah also highlighted the rights and knowledge of the women in the police department.
Speaking about crime against women she sought cooperation and support from the public in fighting such crimes.
Lolia, NWU secretary shared the problems and challenges she faced as a social activist in society.
She called for cooperation and urged the women folks to be honest, sincere and have compassion and care for one another in days to come for a better society.
She highlighted the rights of women at grassroots level and importance of women participating in the decision makings at village level.
Dr Ch Shantibala Devi shared her experiences and urged all to take the right paths in upholding women's rights.
It is important to educate society and put forth a public discourse that would propel a determination for positive changes which will enforce women's rights, equality and justice, she said.
