Three underground cadres arrested

Red Shield Division apprehended one active cadre of Thadou Peoples Liberation Army (TPLA) in an operation carried out on April 29 .
Based on specific inputs regarding presence of a suspected cadre of Thadou People Liberation Army (TPLA) at Kalapahar market, search operation was launched by Jwalamukhi Battalion.
The suspected individual tried to run away from the location but was chased down and apprehended, said a statement issued by the PIB (DW).
The apprehended cadre was identified as Helam Khongsai (36) of Kangpokpi.
One point 22 mm rifle, one magazine and four live rounds were recovered from the cadre.
He confessed of being an active cadre of Thadou Peoples Liberation Army (TPLA), presently working under their PRO Helun Khongsai and has been involved in extortion and kidnapping activities in Kalapahar and KPI.
The insurgent has been handed over to Imphal police station for further investigation, it said.
Meanwhile, Red Shield Division in a major breakthrough succeeded in arresting two active cadres of Kuki Unification Frontal Organization (KUFO), in an operation carried out on May 1 .
The PIB (DW) release said that based on a reliable input, Jwalamukhi Battalion launched an operation and successfully apprehended two active cadres of Kuki Unification Frontal Organisation (KUFO), a non suspension of operations (SoO) group, active in Sadar Hills from Daili village of Senapati district.
The arrested underground cadres were identified as Lamkhokai Sithlou (19), s/o Thangsei Sithlou of Kangpokpi and Satkholen Lhouvum (32) s/o Doulun Lhouvum of Lasan village, PS- Tamei, Tamenglong district.
They were apprehended along with one AK-47 (Regd No 3274711), one magazine of AK-47, one 9 mm sten machine carbine (SMC) (Regd No EE 2515), one magazine of sten machine carbine, one 9 mm pistol, one magazine of 9 mm pistol, fifteen live rounds of AK-47, five live rounds of sten machine carbine and three live rounds of 9 mm pistol.
They confessed of being active cadres of Kuki Unification Frontal Organisation (KUFO) and had joined the group in March 2016.They had been tasked to carry out transshipment of the weapons from village Lhungjang to Phaikon and deliver to unarmed group of KUFO cadres.
In addition to this, they were also tasked to kidnap workers of companies carrying out road construction of IT road, from KPI to Tamenglong.
The apprehended cadres have been handed over to Imphal Police Station for further investigation, it added.
