Portion of bridge washed away
Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, May 03 2016:
The RCC bridge built over Ijei (Irang) river at
Nungtek village is now in a very precarious condition and there is
a strong possibility of the river current sweeping it away any time.
Longmai Area Village Council in an inspection drive at the
bridge yesterday saw major portions of the bridged have been
washed away by the strong river current.
The bridge is an important connecting route for the NF
railway construction company.
As such, the village council
has appealed to the State Government to take up necessary
precautions to ensure that the bridge is not washed away by
the river currents.
