UNC demands

The United Naga Council (UNC) has on Tuesday condemned in the strongest terms the abduction and murder of truck driver PA Chinaoshang of Pharung village under Ukhrul district, reports NNN.
The 38-year-old, s/o late PA Mangaleng, was abducted by unidentified people from a labour camp at Shongphel village on April 3 last at around 11.30 pm.
His body was later found in a decomposed state at Lhengnom village on April 18, UNC general secretary S Milan said in a statement.
It said UNC also condemns the barbaric and brutal murder of A Ngairaisung (33) s/o late A Yangmaso of Phalee village under Somdal police station and MK Lungrei (40) s/o MK Tion of Hungpung village under Ukhrul police station on April 22 last by unidentified gunmen.
Their bodies were found on April 28 at Mangkhrak, now Maringthel under Tengoupal police station in Chandel district.
The UNC demanded that the Government make known to the public all the details on the killing incidents without delay.
"The UNC condemns and opposes all forms of violence, bloodshed and killings.
We appeal to all parties or individuals to desist from carrying out further violence, bloodshed and killing of innocent civilians in future," the statement said.
The council demanded that the murder cases should be thoroughly investigated by constituting an independent agency and those involved should be brought to book and fittingly punished by the law of the land and also the victims' families should be adequately compensated immediately.
