Imphal, February 25 2017:
While conveying warm greetings to all the cadres of the Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF) and the Zeliangrong people on the occasion of the 6th raising day (February 25) of the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF), its chairman Kamson has raised a demand for creation of a common homeland for Zeliangrong people.
The chairman also paid homage to all the departed 'patriots' who sacrificed their lives while defending Zeliangrong land, resources and the people.
The chairman's raising day message said that Zeliangrong forefathers including Haipou Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu sacrificed their lives for the protection and preservation of Zeliangrong land, resources and indigenous culture from the onslaught of other warring tribes, British colonial forces and Christian missionaries.
"Today, it is our turn to do our best and ensure that justice is brought to our people.
The sweat and tears of our patriots will go in vain if we fail to protect our land", Kamson said.
"Our present struggle is not seeking secession from India but we are demanding a common homeland within the Union of India for the fragmented Zeliangrong territory which was divided by the British rulers and continues in independent India," he continued.
The ZUF also demanded the Government of India to grant the long standing demand of the Zeliangrong people for Statehood at the earliest.
It further appealed to all the Zeliangrong people, civil societies, churches and institutions of indigenous faith and other neighbouring communities to cooperate with their movement.
