Sit-in decries bomb threat

Locals of Ningombam and workers of BJP Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block yesterday staged a sit-in-protest at Ningombam Mayai Leikai in protest against the bomb threat at the residence of Soibam Sobhachandra, BJP candidate in 21-Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency for the forthcoming Assembly election.
Talking to media persons, general secretary of BJP Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block termed the bomb threat by unidentified persons as an attempt to break the momentum of election campaign of Sobhachandra.
He suspected that the bomb might have been placed to create fear psychosis amongst the locals and BJP supporters.
He said that such bomb threat is highly condemnable and should not be repeated in the future.
One of the women folks who took part in the protest demonstration appealed to the concerned organisations/individuals to clarify as to why the bomb was planted at the earliest.
She said that the bomb threat has created tension amongst the residents of the area.
According to the locals, the bomb was found at the premises of Sobhachandra while sweeping today at around 5.30 am.
They immediately informed the police about the presence of the bomb.
Later a team of Singjamei police and bomb experts arrived and retrieved the bomb safely.
A case has been taken up in connection with the incident.
