HCBA celebrates silver jubilee

All the three pillars of democracy - legislature, executive and judiciary, should work strongly in tandem to make democracy a success, said Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The CM was speaking as the chief guest of the silver jubilee celebration of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur (HCBAM) today at the auditorium of High Court of Manipur.
The Chief Minister said that legal knowledge is crucial for social workers and politicians.
He also appealed to the lawyers and legal fraternity to preserve the dignity of the profession.
He said that the sanctity of the institute should be protected and preserved by the legal professionals of the High Court and subordinate Courts in such a manner that all concerned including the bureaucrats have regard and fear for law Courts.

The CM further urged the legal professionals to help the common men get justice when they approach and ensure speedy delivery of justice to all justice seekers.
The CM assured to provide medical fund for members of the High Court Bar Association after due consultations with the Law Secretary.
He also said that the State Government will look after requisite infrastructure in the High Court without waiting for funds from the Central Government.
The silver jubilee celebration function was attended amongst others by president HCBAM Kh Binoykumar as the president; Education and CAF and PD Minister M Okendro, Justice N Kotiswar, Justice Kh Nobin and Advocate General of Manipur Th Ibohal as the guests of honour.
Speaking at the function, Justice Kh Nobin said that legal profession is one of the noble professions and those who are engaged in the profession need to spread legal awareness.
He also appealed to the legal professionals to give and share their knowledge with the public.
Justice N Kotiswar said that in the last 25 years, HCBAM had some remarkable achievements and among the biggest achievement is establishment of a separate High Court of Manipur.
He also said that the High Court of Manipur is one of the best High Courts of the country and added that the Bar and its members need to be strong as in the Indian judiciary system the role of the Bar is tremendous.
Y Nimolchand said that the silver jubilee celebration is possible due to the hard work of the founder members of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur.
HCBAM was established on November 16, 1990 under the Manipur Registrar of Society Act.
The first president of the Association was late Advocate Th Ibohal.
Now the Association has more than 500 members and it is increasing day by day.
