Imphal, April 15 2013:
While urging the Chief Minister to ensure regular power supply in Moreh, the Hill Tribal Council (HTC) Moreh has offered service to ensure payment of electric bill regularly from all consumers.
In an open letter to the CM, the HTC said that regular power supply to the border town has assumed for significance now as the temperature crossed the 40 degree celcius mark.
The people have nothing to do to beat the scorching heat except to seek relieve and breathe under available coolers which is operable only with power supply.
Realising the need of regular power supply, the HTC after consulting the EE and AE (Electricity) Chandel division initiated a mass drive on power consumers recently.
The efforts pay dividend and all pending bills were cleared.
Since then, power bills were paid regularly, the HTC said.
However, contrary to the expectation and endeavour, the people felt neglected and ignored by the concerned dept, it said.
Not just considering the status of Moreh as an International border town, but to save the people from extreme heat, the HTC prayed the CM to ensure regular supply in Moreh while offering its service to ensure payment of power bill regularly from the consumers side.
