Two active members of PREPAK arrested

Imphal, April 01 2022: A combined team of Imphal West Commando and 15 Assam Rifles arrested two active members of PREPAK from Langol Lairembi and Kangchup Karang Leikai this morning.

Based on reliable information provided by 15 Assam Rifles and corroborated by Imphal West Commando regarding the presence of active members of a banned underground outfit at Langol Lairembi area, the combined team led by Inspector P Achouba, OC, Imphal West commando under the command of M Amit, Additional SP, (Ops) rushed to Langol Lairembi.

The team arrested an active member of PREPAK identified as Soraisam Sanjoy @ Nathoibi 24 s/o (L) Samungou of Sairem Khul Maning Leikai and presently staying at Langol Lairembi.

The arrested person disclosed the identity of another active PREPAK member by the name of Ningthoujam Jackson, 19, s/o Nongyai of Kangchup Karang Leikai.

The latter was subsequently arrested from his residence today.

During interrogation, the arrested persons disclosed that they started working for PREPAK from November 2021 under the command of one Rakesh @ Boicha of Sairem khul, who is presently staying in Myanmar.

They also revealed that they frequently communicated with their commander through mobile phone and on the advice of their commander they went to Myanmar during the first week of March 2022, where they were given training on assembly and operation of IED by a senior cadre of PREPAK.

Further, they divulged that they were instructed to plant an IED along NH37 (Patsoi area) to attack security forces.

One mobile phone and one SIM card were recovered from their possession.

According to sources, the arrested persons and the seized articles have been handed over to Lamphel PS for necessary action.
