Yaoshang to be celebrated for 3 days only

A public meeting to deliberate on the history and changing faces of Yaoshang festival as well as its impact in Manipuri society held at Manipur Press Club here today has resolved to cut down the number of days for celebrating the annual Yaoshang festival from present five days to 3 days only.
The public meeting was organized under the aegis of League of Indigenous People Upliftment (LIPUL).
The meeting also adopted four other resolutions including prohibition of theft and collecting of money in the name of the festival, to include educational programmes in addition to conducting sports during the festival and singing of "Ke ke ke mo, mo, hanggel shumba swai swai" at the end of every Thabalchongba programme.
During the meeting, B Kullachandra Sharma, Namoijam Indramani and Yumnam Dilipkumar spoke on different topics related to celebration of Yaoshang Festival.
The meeting proceeded with Ibotombi Khuman, Advisor of IPSA; Somorendro Thokchom, President of LIPUL and advocate Angomcha Araba as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
