Meet for curbing Yaoshang excesses

A one-day seminar on 'Yaoshang-gee Hourakpham Amasung mashina Piba Cheithang and Ethil' organised by The League of Indigenous Peoples' Upliftment (Lipul) at Manipur Press Club today has adopted a number of resolutions, including curbing excesses during the yaoshang (Holi) festival.
Apart from containing excesses such as splashing dirty water, colour sprinkling, collection of money, etc, the meet advocating traditional way of celebration decided to restrict Thabal Chongba to only two days from next year onwards.
Stressing on promotion of sports and educational activities during the five-day festival, the seminar also resolved to seek cooperation of the parents in guiding their wards to celebrate the festival in the traditional manner.
Apart from advocate Angomcha Araba attending the seminar, the technical session held with judge (Retd) C Upendra as the moderator had B Kullachandra and naoroibam Indramani elaborating on the subject as the resource persons.
