Will contest polls as Independent candidate: Helendro

Peeved at not getting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket for contesting in the forthcoming 11th State Legislative Assembly election to be held on March 4 and 8, Ningombam Helendro an intending candidate from Yaiskul Assembly Constituency has announced that he will contest the election as an Independent candidate.
Speaking at a function organised by Yaiskul Kendra Development Committee at Palace Compound today, Helendro said that he was an RSS member and had actively taken part in activities initiated for welfare of the party.
He informed he went to Delhi to apprise the party leaders about the disparity in allotment of ticket.
Saying that he has no regrets for failing to get the party ticket, he pledged to live up to the expectations and beliefs of people of the constituency.
Helendro maintained that he needs unflinching support and blessings of the people as he is going to fight the election as an Independent candidate.
Convenor of Yaiskul Kendra Development Committee, Th Arunkumar who attended the function said that BJP Government at the Centre and BJP Manipur Pradesh have different opinions when it comes to allotting the party ticket for the coming election.
It is a big loss for BJP that deserving candidates were denied the party ticket, he remarked.
He appealed to the electorate of Yaiskul to vote for qualified and honest candidate not on the basis of party.
