He said, most of the people have acquired high level knowledge from the present education system, and most have become wiser, but without moral.
This is because the present education system focus only on acquiring knowledge but lacks moral lessons.
DC Panmei further said that God created all men equally.
There is no question of one being inferior or superior to other.
It is through sheer hard work that many people excel.
It is not because of fate that people become winners.
Only hard work makes one successful in life.
Therefore, instead of the young students feeling discouraged by the poor background of the family, they should rather face life taking it as a battle that must be won, and should try to achieve their desired goal, Panmei exhorted the students.
He also said that many successful and distinguished people have emerged from the bigger communities of the state, and were contributing towards their own communities to live with dignity.
The people of Zeliangrong community are in no way inferior to any other community, the Zeliangrong IAS officer said adding that the community has its own beautiful culture, traditions, dances and folk music.
It is because of lack of labour that people of the community were lagging behind in the field of education, he said and appealed to the people of the Zeliangrong community to try to live equally with other communities.
Speaking at the function, editor of Hueiyen Lanpao (Meetei Mayek edition), M Shivadutt Luwang pointed out that education is essential in bringing the society toward development.
Education is the backbone of the society.
He lamented that there is a trend of using education as a tool by various organisations in trying to achieve a demand.
The students have been deprived of their right to education for the past four months as education has been used as a vehicle to achieve right to life.
There had been occassions when hill-based organisations had also burned text books and school buildings as a means to achieve their demands, he said.
Instead of trying to bring about a solution with the agitating groups, the present government has also remained sticking to its guns in the thought that what it's doing is the right thing.
As a result, education has become the victim, Shivadutt said.
He said, without making serious attempts to solve the logjam, the government has ordered all the private schools to reopen and resume classes from December 21.Teachers of private schools have not been getting salary for the last four months.
Crores of rupees can never make up for the time spent without education by the students.
Who will compensate the teachers' salaries, he asked.
Unless the government and the agitating organisations make certain concessions in their respective stands, nothing good will come about in the society, Shivadutt pointed out.
It is time various organisations realised the immeasurable importance of education in the society and left it as a free zone, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, president of UNC, Samson Remei informed that accepting the significant role of education in a society, the hill-based organisations were seriously considering to make education a free zone.
It is necessary to make all the people aware of the importance of education in making it a free zone.
Keeping the students without education for four months will not create any good result for the society.
It will make the society more backward, Samson Remei said.
Prizes were distributed to top 24 students who stood positions in the mathematics competition organised by the ZSU, Imphal area with the objective of making the tribal students become better at mathematics.
Consolation prizes were also given to selected 23 students at the function.
