Imphal, March 16 2012:
Expressing serious concern over the snail's pace progress in the ongoing black-carpeting work of NH-2, Senapati District Students' Association has warned of launching any form of agitation against the Government if improvement work of NH-2 is not completed within March.
In a statement, president of SDSA LR John pointed out that except for Maram-Makhan and Mayangkhang area stretch, nothing worthwhile has been seen though the contractors concerned were urged to speed up the work before.
The condition of Senapati-Mao stretch of the highway continues to be at its worst with Makhan-Mao Gate stretch remaining even untouched, the SDSA noted.
The students' body also took exception to the act of destroying the control room of the newly installed hot-mix plant near Puni-Pfosemai village that causes further delay of the work.
Urging the concerned department and contractors to complete the improvement work within March, the students' body warned of launching any form of agitation against the State Government and those concerned.
Meanwhile, the SDSA has also conveyed unhappiness over the prolonged absence of CEO, ADC while pointing out that the non-appointment of CEO has seriously hampered the office work of the ADC and it clearly signifies total lack of concern from the State Government.
It said that the post of CEO has been lying vacant since the retirement of Biramani Singh on superannuation of service on February 29, 2012 .
Demanding the authority concerned to immediately appoint a CEO In-charge, it added that there is no care-taker or in-charge to deal long pending and urgent files.
Such act of negligence is condemnable and manifest total negligence to the welfare of the district, it stated.
