Imphal, March 16 2012:
Even though the OBC Boys Hostel built inside the campus of DM College of Commerce has not been utilised after its inauguration, the building has developed cracks on the first floor and its roof has started to leak.
The hostel inaugurated by former MOBC Minister Md Allaudin Khan on March 12, 2010 was meant for providing accommodation to OBC students studying in DM Science, DM Arts and DM Commerce.
However, even though the building has not been put into use, its roof has started leaking over five/six rooms and cracks have developed over different portions of the first floor.

Speaking to media persons today, DM Commerce Students' Union general secretary John Huidrom said that students are unable to use the hostel even though it was inaugurated two years back.
He appealed to the authorities concerned to repair the building and make it usable within April 30 .
In case the authorities fail to pay attention to the students' grievances, they would be compelled to take up all sorts of agitation including demolition of the hostel.
Talking about infrastructure shortfalls in DM Commerce, John Huidrom lamented that there is no modern library facility in the college though it is one of the best Commerce colleges in the State.
No new books have been added to the existing library since three years back.
Out of total 16 toilet blocks, only seven blocks are usable.
Even then, students have been facing many inconveniences as water is not available most of the time.
Most of the commodes have been choked, John added.
The Librarian of the college said that no new books were purchased in 2011 as no sanction was made by Education (U) .
Though a few books were purchased in 2010, no recommendations were sought from subject experts at the time of purchasing books.
As such, it remains a big questionable if the books were purchased at the convenience of some individuals, said the Librarian.
