Fashion extravaganza held

Ningtham Charei, a fashion extravanza aimed at promoting the idigenous attire and clothes of Manipur, was organised at Hotel Imphal today .
The event was organised by Robest Naorem Studio and Academy.
Speaking to media persons, Robert Naorem said that the influx of external fashion and designs is threatening the survival of the indigenous cultural and ethnic dresses and attires of the State.
As such the event has been organised with the aim of promoting and preserving the traditional designs .
Robert Naorem said that people mostly view fashion as a fad but for those working in the field, fashion is an art form and added that such events are necessary to spread awareness and spark an interest in the mind of the youth which in turn will eventually increase the market scope for the indigenous attires of the State.
Health Minister L Jayentakumar and All Manipur Working Journalist Union president Wangkhemcha Shamjai also attended the event as the presidium members.
