CADA observes World AIDS Day

Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) has observed World AIDS Day under the theme "Communities make the difference" at its office at Konung Mamang Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong, today.
The observation was graced by CADA president, Hijam Priyokumar, Nupi Samaj president, Thokchom (o) Ramani, Dr Thokchom Chitrani, Medical Officer, Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) and Mc Rita, LEIMAKOL president as the presidium members.

At the event, CADA general secretary Geetchandra Mangang said that Manipur has the 6th largest HIV epidemic in the country as per a report Magnitude of Substance Use in India-2019.Stating that the finding is still alarming though it has reduced as compared with the past, Geetchandra Mangang added that CADA will intensify its drive against drugs and alcohol to check the issue.
Thokchom (o) Ramani claimed that the State Government is also partly to be blamed for the ever-increasing drug users in Manipur as they fail to take up necessary actions against drugs dealers/suppliers.
Mc Rita also said that the prevalence of person with HIV/AIDS is alarmingly high because of the increasing premarital relationship among the youth and declining socio-economic condition of the State.
