All the business activities at three Ema Keithels, Paona bazar and Thangal bazar remained suspended for the day due to the stir of the women vendors of three Ema Keithels demanding implementation of ILPS today.
A discussion session on the demand for ILPS implementation was held as part of the stir.
Chongtham (o) Ibemnungshi of Leimarel Sidabi Ema Keithel, Aribam Binodini of Emoinu Ema Keithel, Paonam (o) Ibenu of Phouwoibi Ema Keithel and Ph Liklaleima of Ima Panthoibi Sanakeithel (temporary market shed) were the presidium members of the discussion session.
The women vendors decided not to allow any non-local to carry out any business activity at the four markets and take over all business activities from non-locals.
They also decided to emphasize on local and indigenous products.
Speaking at the discussion session, JCILPS former convenor Ibotombi Khuman said that of the 28 lakh population of the State, around 9 lakh people are non-locals.
They sneaked into the State in different inter-State passenger vehicles and goods trucks, he said.
He said that their constant influx has posed serious threat to the indigenous people of the State.
Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinfam amadi Shaktam Kanba Lup secretary K Rani said that every issue most be resolved amicably to restore normalcy.
