The Affected Land Owners' Association Against Forced Acquisition for Sports University, Manipur has said that people of Yaithibi Loukol and Yaithibi Khunou have never agreed to give 336.93 acres of land to the Government for the construction of National Sports University.
In a statement, the association cautioned that the Government must be held responsible for any unwanted incident if they forcefully snatch the land of innocent people of Yaithibi Loukol and Yaithibi Khunou.
It is unfortunate that the State Government has reportedly handed over the land to the authority concerned although people have been opposing the Government's move since the past one year, the statement said.
The Government's indifferent attitude has testified that they do not want to set up the varsity in Manipur at all.
Due to people's opposition against insensible land acquisition move of the Governent, the Centre sponsored film institute has been shifted to Arunachal Pradesh although it was earlier proposed to be set up in Manipur.
University of Culture is also likely to be shifted to Meghalaya due to similar problem, the statement said.
The case of annulment of pattas of the people of Yaithibi Loukol and Yaithibi Khunou is still pending in a Court in Thoubal, the statement said.
The association further said that people would continue to stand against Government's move of land acquisition at Yaithibi Loukol and Yaithibi Khunou.
