Awareness programme held

A one day awareness programme on 'Search and rescue/First Aid/Fire fighting demonstration' was held today at Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Khurai Lamlong, Imphal East, organized by the Imphal East District Police in collaboration with Relief and Disaster Management, Government of Manipur.
Additional Superintendent of Police (LO), Imphal East, P Manjit graced the awareness programme as chief guest while principal of Lamlong Higher Secondary School H Sobita Devi graced as the functional president.
SDPO Porompat Th Ramgopal, Staff Officer of Relief and Disaster Management Subhaschandra Singh and CDI (Sr) Relief and Disaster Management Ng Budhachandra attended as guests of honour.
Do's and don'ts before and after earthquakes and other life saving technique were demonstrated by experts present at the awareness programme.
The awareness programme was attended by young students of Lamlong Higher Secondary School.
Addressing the gathering, Manjit stressed on the need for students to learn the basic techniques which could save the lives of other.
While demonstrating various safety techniques and know-how, Staff Officer of Relief and Disaster Management Subhaschandra said, "If you are indoors during a quake, stand against a wall near the centre of the building, stand in a doorway, or crawl under heavy furniture (a desk or table).
Stay away from windows and doors.
And if you're outdoors, stay in the open away from power lines or anything that might fall.
Stay away from buildings." He also demonstrated various fire fighting techniques and first aid methods.
