Relief to deceased scribe's family

Most of the demands made by the JAC in connection with the killing of a TV journalist, Thangjam Dwijamani alias Nanao were fulfilled by the State Government six months after his death.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Naharol Leishemba Club, Thangmei-band Sinam Leikai, Leishang- them Pratap, co-convenor of the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Thang- jam Dwijamani, said most of the demands raised by the JAC have been fulfilled.
Th Dwijamani was killed in police firing while covering a public agitation against molestation of Manipuri film actress Momoko at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai on Dec 23 last year.
The JAC co-convenor said that the demand for taking up a suo moto case was fulfilled and a Government primary teacher post was given to the wife of the deceased journalist.
Besides, ex-gratia has also been paid to the next of kin.
However, demand pertaining to punishment against the guilty police personnel is yet to be fulfilled as investigation into the matter is not yet completed, the JAC co-convenor said.
Although the Government nodded to the proposal for allocating site for a memorial complex of the deceased journalist, the land is yet to be allocated, L Pratap said.
With the realisation of almost all the demands, he also said the JAC would be dissolved and Naharol Leishemba Club would be entrusted to pursue the pending demands.
Meanwhile, the JAC also expressed profound gratitude to the public, local MLA Kh Joykishan and former president of AMWJU and his team.
