Imphal, November 15 2018:
Denouncing the State Cabinet decision of issuing tender form for implementation of Border Area Development Programme, All Manipur Border Area Development Association (AMBADA) has said that it will boycott the BJP party in the MP election - 2019 if the Government fails to hear its appeals.
It has held an emergency meeting yesterday at Kuki Welfare Community Hall, Langol Imphal in which the Chiefs of the villages of Manipur covered by Border Area Development Programme (BADP) categorically stated their positions and adopted unanimous resolutions condemning the State Cabinet's decision on BADP, said a statement of the association issued by its information and publicity secretary Houkhokai Touthang today.
No contractor or any village Chief should accept form of the tender.
Any contractor of village Chief who have accepted the form of tender should "withdraw or face appropriate action as per customary law", it cautioned.
No village Chief will be allowed to submit any gift deed of land to any Government Department or NGO for implementation of any project or scheme in tribal areas, it added.
"If the Government sincerely intends to develop border areas or villages of Manipur through BADP scheme, it is most welcome but it should strictly adhere to the Central guideline and any compromise or deviation/diversion of the said guideline in this regard, as it is the case now, should not be tolerated at any cost," AMBADA said.
The State Government should reconsider or review its Cabinet policy regarding BADP, said AMBADA and cautioned that it will boycott BJP party in the upcoming MP election.
The association will further resort to bandh/strikes and even move Supreme Court if its appeals are not heard, said AMBADA.
