Imphal, June 14 2021:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Govindas Konthoujam has contended that no one will accept the PM Modi-led BJP government's act of robbing the people after failing to mobilize necessary resources.
On Monday, MPCC donated 8 D-type oxygen cylinders and 3 regulators to Chief Medical Officer, Bishnupur District Hospital through DC Bishnupur.
Speaking at the event, MPCC Pandemic Management Sub-Committee chairman Dr Kh Ratankumar informed that the items were donated under the aegis of party president Govindas Konthoujam as per the instructions of AICC, adding that the party has been extending assistance to Covid Care Centres, hospitals and other affected individuals.
Meanwhile, commenting on CM Biren's statements over the skyrocketing fuel prices, MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam said that it is wrong of a leader to make such careless and irresponsible statements.
"The Covid-19 pandemic is not confined to one place but is affecting globally," he said, while questioning why BJP is upset with claims being made about the hopeless Indian economy under its government.
"Even today, the left parties had announced that it will continue to protest against the rising petroleum prices", he added.
Stating that the PM Modi-led government has no clue about resource mobilization, the MPCC president said that the government does not know from where to generate economy, considering it has already sold off the entirety of the public sector.
"It is wrong of the government to try and loot the people over its failure to mobile resources", he remarked.
Govindas questioned why the tax rate on petroleum products in India is fixed at 230 per cent when the people have never demanded for free rice, especially after the previous government had fixed the price rate to Rs 3 per kg.
BJP's present act of distributing rice for free is simply vote bank politics, he said and urged the government to instead fulfill the people's demands for universal vaccination and proper treatment.
Questioning why the government is offended over enquiries on the rising petrol prices, the president said that it is BJP's own MP Subramaniam Swamy who stated that there is no hope for the India economy under the present government.
It would be better for those in power to empathize with the suffering of the people and maybe learn some resource mobilisation.
Govindas also commented on the state's Lok Sabha MP from BJP claiming the dormancy of Congress as an attempt by the CM to dissuade Congress from exposing his wrongdoings.
