Forged Kisan credit cards used for fraudulent withdrawal of loans

It has been reported that loans are being withdrawn unethically using forged Kisan credit cards in the name of many women belonging to BPL households of Keirao, Langdem, Khannarok and Wangkhem.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Joint Liability Group (JLG) Loan Victim Family Joint Action Committee secretary Arambam Rameshore claimed that a sum of Rs 50,000 was unethically withdrawn using forged Kisan Credit cards of women belonging to BPL families of Keirao, Langdem, Khannarok and Wangkhem and a sanctioned amount of Rs 34,100 was also found withdrawn.
On the other hand, it was found that an outstanding due of around Rs 42,275 had appeared in the bank accounts of the Self Help Groups belonging to the women victims, he added.
Rameshore narrated that on March 4, 2016, one Longjam Dinesh and Mutum Ira, correspondents of Punjab National Bank, Irilbung branch, saw the creation of some Joint Livelihood Groups (which comprised of 5 women member each) .
However, no bank documents were involved during the creation of the group, he explained, adding that the bank accounts of the said groups were also opened at Punjab National Bank, Irilbung branch.
He continued that on April 12 (2016), the two correspondents gave one of the women group a sum of Rs 20,000 explaining that they were supposed to pay Rs 600 per month as interest from the next month and they were also told to bring a registry while coming for paying the interest.
Stating that the women stopped paying after 5-6 months after getting suspicious, Rameshore said that after some time, when the women tried to open an account at Bank of Baroda for availing Village Livelihood Fund under Block Mission Management Unit, they found that a loan had been taken from Punjab National Bank Irilbung Branch in their name.
The women had to run from pillar to post for securing a bank account statement from Punjab National Bank and then finally it came to light that a loan of Rs 50,000, sanction, loan of Rs 34,100 were withdrawn in their names.
It was also found that the account of their groups had an outstanding due of Rs 42,275, he said appealing to the authorities concerned to find and punish the culprits involved in the scam.
If the culprits are not caught within 3 days, an FIR will be lodged, he warned.
