Raj Phairenbam is Seattle-bound to attend the Lions Convention

Raj Phairenbam of Moirang Ngangkha Leikai left for Seattle in Washington, USA to attend the 94th International Lions Convention where he will participate in the Signature Day event in the US capital on the sideline of the July 4-8 Convention.
The 11-year old son of Phairenbam Yaiskul Singh and Memton Devi has been nominated to attend the Convention on the basis of his award winning Peace Poster at a competition held on the occasion of the Lions Day celebration recently.
According to the May edition of the Official Bulletin of Eastern Lion, Lions Club International President Sid Scruggs presented Raj the award for creating this year's grand prize Peace Poster at 'Lions Day with the United Nations' .
Raj is informed to have surprised the impressive gathering by conveying his desire to donate the prize amount of $250 for the people of Japan who are enduring severe hardships as a consequence of the devastating earthquake and Tsunami.
While Sid Scruggs thanked Raj and the crowd applauded his generous donation, the Bulletin quoted Raj as saying, "To some, seeing you is a chance.
To me it is an opportunity to say that we want freedom from fear" .
The peace poster competition raj took/will take part is said to be an annual event where about 350,00011 student participants from around the world in the age group of 12 to 13 years share their visions of peace through the Lions International Peace Poster Contest.
Their posters are narrowed down at the club, district and multiple district levels before the final judging at the international level, the Bulletin maintained.
The Signature Day is scheduled on July 6 .
