Imphal, July 05 2011:
Refuting claims that he tried to withdraw amounts with fake bill for the Prime Minister Employment Guarantee Programme under the Manipur Khadi and Village Industry, Commerce and Industries Minister Y Erabot today challenged that he will resign from politics for the rest of life if one can produce any proof of the allegation against him.
Speakiing to reporters in a press meet held at the office of Manipur Khadi and Village Industries Board at Lamphelpat, Imphal, Erabot said that the allegation made by MKVIB Vice Chairman A Sarat which claim that Chairman RK Khogen tried to withdraw amount meant for erecting hoardings of PMEGP before its completion is completely baseless.
He said that he did not know RK Khogen was erecting the hoardings of PMEGP although he knew Khogen as a person of his constituency.
He said that Sarat was allowed to carry out his duty including those of the chairman for the welfare of the programme in the state.
However he was told to hand over most of his duties to the Chief Executive Officer of MKVI since the progress of the programme was very slow under his supervision.
Most of the works of KVIC did little progress under him.
He did not do anything to prevent or stop people from settling in the reserve land areas of the commission.
He also did not complete erecting fencing even though the amount for erecting fencing has been withdrawn.
He further said that the department has got Rs 2.5 crore for erecting hoarding and advertisement.
The matter will be discussed by a committee of seven members.
The department is planning to set up a Multi Industries Training Centre near Hiyangthang Lairembi with a total cost of Rs 3.5 crore.
Besides, he is planning to take up many developmental works to give a boost in the industrial sector of the state, he said.
