Construction works for upgrading the Churachandpur Dist Hospital will be begin within a short period, disclosed a reliable source.
North Eastern Council (NEC) had already sanctioned a sum of Rs 50 lakhs for upgrading the Dist hospital.
The upgradation to be taken up under the NEC's Accident and Trauma Centre is estimated to cost about Rs four crores.
Sources also informed that a Regional Diagnostic Centre would be set up in the Hospital under a scheme of the Union Ministry of Health estimated to cost about Rs 47 lakhs.
Informing that the Union Urban Development has also sanctioned for constructing a District Hospital at Thoubal at the cost of Rs 23 crores, source said that not much headway has been made on the matter as the authorities concerned has not found a suitable site for the construction till today.
